I’ve always been keen on British accent, I think it’s cool and sexy at the same time. But since the day I saw Trainspotting for the first time I’ve found the Scottish accent even cooler and I’ve always wanted to speak like a Scott and sound like Ewan McGregor or Robert Carlyle. Sounds a bit crazy, I know, but so what? It’s not supposed to make any sense.

Anyway, I was browsing youtube and I found this guy called RayTheFox, who has a series containing 7 lessons on “How to learn the Scottish Accent”. The lessons are very small (less than 2 minutes), funny and worthy! You can check the first lesson here on this post. Totally by chance I saw that a friend had posted a comment here on the blog 3 days ago. I immediately noticed that I hadn’t seen it before simply because I wasn’t notified by email. The thing is, my wordpress settings are set up in order to send notifications whenever someone post comments. So, why hadn’t I been notified? Well, probably I was. But since gmail thinks it’s smarter than us (human beings), it might have considered it to be spam. Acording to gmail I have 1896 spam messages, but every time I click on it in order to browse the spam folder I get a message saying that I don’t have any spam at all. Hmpf!

Last week I got a new student at Shell Brasil. First classes are great because there isn’t much work involved. It’s just a basic conversation where you try to get to know your future student a bit better. Somewhere in the middle of the conversation he told me he’s keen on rock music. Specially heavy rock and he said his favourite bands are AC/DC, Kiss, Purple, Sabbath, you know, all the good stuff! In the middle of the list he did mention Maiden. And as you may have noticed, Maiden is kind of a magical word for me. So I said: “Maiden, huh? Great! Did you go to their gig 3 weeks ago?” Do you know what he said? He said: “Nah, I’m too old for that!”.

Hey, wait a minute, stop right there! Come on! Too old for what? Too old to have fun? Did I hear it right? Unfuckingbelievable!

You know, I’m sick and tired of these people who use age as an excuse for everything. Really am!

I mean, you have lots of cheese in it and that’s what makes it not cheap at all. But it’s totally worth it! I won’t post the recipe here, just google it and I’m sure you will find it. I’m pretty sure I once post the recipe in here ages ago (or was that in the old b2evolution blog?).

Remember around 8 months ago when I was asked to be my cousin’s Best Man? Guess what? After wasting spending a lot of money in a wedding party and 6 months of (happy?) marriage, her husband left home and apparently they’ve broken up for good. The thing is I’m not supposed to know about it (at least not yet), but somehow I just know. Anyway, what’s up with marriage? It’s soooo overrated! I’ve never wanted to get married, well, not in the traditional marriage way that is. I used to wear glasses many years ago because of astigmatism, but it somehow got corrected and I stopped wearing them. I do also have myopia, but it’s not strong enough to make me wear glasses. For the past few days I’ve been thinking going to the doctor’s office, not because I think I need glasses again, but for no bloody reason at all, I’ve been thinking a lot about buying a trendy, cool eyeglasses in order to just change my looks. How crazy is that? Sometimes I have these crazy ideas which I simply can’t explain. Crazy me!

Anyway, it’s Sunday evening and I haven’t done much for the day. Went shopping in the morning to buy some food, then came back home and didn’t feel like going to the gym. Bummer! Then went out to have lunch with my oldest uncle in a nice (just) ok restaurant, came back home and since then I have been dividing my time between watching football on TV (lousy matches!) and being in front of my macbook. As you may have noticed, I’ve been playing with the blog’s design. I really loved the ex design, but I felt it didn’t feel like a blog. So, I’ve been trying to get that back with this new design. It still looks a bit dodgy and all, and it will look like this for the next few days, until I come up with some small ideas for it. Not sure when exactly it will be ready, coz I’ve been pretty busy with work and stuff lately, but hopefully it won’t take long.

I’m still here living my same boring life, just didn’t feel like posting. I’ll try to post more often, I promise that.

Somehow my cholesterol diet didn’t work. 4 months ago (or so) I did some blood tests and the results were not good. My doctor said I should go on a fat-free diet to see if I could reduce it. 4 months later (today) I have a new appointment at the doctor’s office to show him the results of my new blood test. Well, the result is no good at all. After having cut all fried food from my diet, stopped drinking milk, reduced the amount of chocolate I eat (the most difficult task!), started to drink fresh fruit juice my cholesterol went up instead of gong down! Believe it or not. So fuck all these fucking diets! Later today I’ll ask my doctor to prescribe me some drugs. Let’s see if I’ll get better results with them.

It’s been a week I’ve got my MacBook. To be honest with you, I’m really pleased with it. I’ve always wanted to have a Mac coz It just looked cool. But it’s much more than a trandy piece of plastic. Mac OS (Leopard in my case) is way much better and reliable than Vista Windows. I’m still not fully adapted to it, but I’m getting there. Vista was getting into my nerves, really! So I decided to withdraw some a lot of money from my saving accounts and get my so wanted MacBook. Pitty that Apple products are so fucking expenisve here in Brazil. My MacBook cost almost twice as much as if I had bought it in the U.S. :-/

I had never been a fan of R.E.M. before 2001, when I first saw them live at Rock in Rio 3. In fact, I quite disliked them because they were trendy in the 90s and I tend to dislike most trendy stuff. After the 2001 gig I saw how great they are live and I started to follow them a bit more closely. (For me the only way to rate how good bands really are is to watch a gig and feel its energy).Anyway, yesterday they played here in Rio for the first time since 2001 and I couldn’t see them. (Well, in theory I could. But in the following lines I’ll tell you why I didn’t). The price of concert tickets here in Brazil have increased so much, that it’s total nonsense. Who will pay 200 bucks (cheapest seats) to watch a gig? Well, apparently lots of people do, but I don’t. I really wished I could have watched the R.E.M. gig last night, but I still haven’t reached this point of lunacy. Not yet.

Second attempt of having a second dated failed yesterday. On Tuesday morning I started to chat with her on MSN and after a few minutes invitded her out by saying that I was thinking about going to the theater and would like her to go with me. And that’s when she didn’t reply anything… I spent the next couple of hours totally disappointed but by the end of the day I was already a bit better. I had convinced myself that she really didn’t want anything with me. So I decided to give her some time, that I wouldn’t be forcing any more moves for a while, and I was even considering not speaking to her for a while too… Well, yesterday she was there, online my MSN list. I stuck to my decision and didn’t start a conversation. But she did! She started to talk to me, and said she was sorry for not replying me the day before. So we chatted a little bit more about work and stuff, and then I said that I had invited her to go out and she never replied… That’s when she said she’s not in a good moment and that she wouldn’t be a good companion for me and she also said that when she has the opportunity she will explain it to me. Well, smells like past realtionships to me. What do you think? Maybe she’s still emotionally attached to an ex. Or she likes someone that doesn’t care abut her. Who knows? I’ll wait for my next move. Even though I’m not sure what and when my next move will be. Anyway, what I know is that it’s pretty clear that she already knows what I want. Maybe, she’s the one who has to make the next move? Earlier today I overheard a conversation among my mother, my oldest uncle and their aunt. And after almost 30 years later, I found out that my youngest uncle isn’t actually my uncle, biologically speaking, I mean. Apparently my grandmother adopted him when he was a baby. Well, it wasn’t a shock. Actually, it does make a lot of sense! It’s amazing how little I know about my family’s past (and I mean both sides of my family). Everything seems so obscure. The feeling I have now is that there are many more things hidden somewhere. What I don’t know is if I really want to know everything. This task will require lots of stress, which I’m not sure it’s worthy. In fact, I’m pretty sure it isn’t worthy. In the end nothing will change, so why bother?

Well, she had already made plans for tonight, which she explained detailed, and then she said other opportunities would appear. And before I could have asked her if she was free tomorrow, she just said she hoped I’ll have a very nice weekend and kind of ended the conversation (well, she’s at work afterall!). Anyway, it didn’t sound as a lame excuse. Lame excuses aren’t explained in details followed right after by “we’ll have other opportunities”, or do they? Damn, I’m so fucking confused!

Yesterday I had a first date with the current girl of choice. I’m not sure if I could call it a date, it didn’t last long! Well, It didn’t last long for work reasons and not because things didn’t go well. I guess things did go pretty well, I don’t think I screwed things up this time. We just talked, then I walked her home. Today I’m thinking if I should have kissed her, I don’t know, really… I don’t believe in this kissing on the first date thing, I like to play it safe. Problem is sometimes I play it too safe and kind of lose the proper moment. Anyway I had problems sleeping last night. She was on my mind, and now I have butterflies in the stomach. It sucks!

Anyway, she’s gorgeous! attractive, intelligent, funny. Everything I always dreamed of. I definetely want a second date.

So, I guess I wasn’t fair to the 90s on my last post. I said it didn’t offer us much… Well, I guess I was wrong. It did present Beverly Hills 90210 to the world. And throw the first stone who has never seen an episode! Come, on! Throw it! Now someone (warner?) made a remake of it. And they simply call it ’90210′ (very smart isn’t it?). I’ve seen all the episodes so far and let me tell you… I think they got the mojo of the original show, specially putting some of the original cast members of the old show. Who didn’t smile when Brenda and Kelly were walking down the school’s corridor on the last episode? And no, I didn’t mean smile in a pervert way, although they still look very attractive!

Now, getting back to the 80s… On the last post I did mention Knight Rider, didn’t I? It was so fucking cool for the time! I mean, the car could do anything and even talk! James Bond’s car didn’t do that at the time. So, it was new, it was fascinating. Well, some smart ass decided to do a remake of it! And they call it ‘Knight Rider’ (yeah I know, another very smart title). I watched the season premiere last night. Oh man, that was a piece of shit! It almost ruined all the good memories I still have from the original show. It didn’t ruin everything because I simply stopped watching it after 15 minutes, the smartest thing I did this week! I had never imagined that I would ever say this, but I missed David Hasselhoff!

A few days ago I was chatting with a friend of mine on msn and she was playing some songs for me. She wondered if I remembered any of those tunes. Apparently they were all hits during the 90s. Well, I didn’t believe I had ever heard them before, and thanks God, because they all sounded fucking terrible! Well, she was quite amazed by the fact I couldn’t recognize any of the songs (she played 5 or 6) and asked me the following question: “Where were you during the whole 90s?” Well, I told her: “Still lost somewhere around the 80s!”

Really, what did the 90s offer us? Can’t think of many things, can you? If so, let me know… As fot the 80s, well, we had neon lights, we had the pop music (MJ, Billy Idol, A-Ha, Europe, and many others), rock (Ozzy, Dio…), metal (early Metallica, Maiden, Hellowen…), we had Miami Vice and The A-Team on TV! Oh, we also had “V”, MacGyver and The Knight Rider! Honestly, do you really think the 90s were better? No fucking way!

Whenever I feel interested in someone (of the oppostie sex, of course), I ask this person out for lunch or dinner, whatever… And the person always have an excuse. Always! Unbelievable. Don’t really know what to do next… :-/

Earlier today I was at the supermarket and I noticed some fancy imported beers, when I suddenly put my eyes on a Hoegaarden. It automatically rewinded my mind some years back and I remembered a conversation I had with my friend Chris Dale. The conversation was about beer and Chris told me at the time that Hoegaarden was his favourite beer (or one of his favourites) and he said I should try it, which I didn’t at the time. And I still haven’t tried it because I simply don’t drink like beer.

Well, I also didn’t like wine and nowadays I’m a good wine drinker, so I thought about giving Hoegaarden a try. I bought it, and as I write this post, it’s gettin cooler in my fridge. Tomorrow or Sunday I shall give it a try and will let you guys know about the result.
