The worst thing about white MacBooks is that they get dirty quite easily. After having searched the internet for several different kinds of ways to clean my MacBook, the best way (apparently) to do so is with a product called Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Well, since I live in Brazil and we don’t have this product here, I tried to search for some similar local products and I found one! It’s called Limplex. It can be easily found at Kalunga shops.

Anyway, if you don’t live in the U.S or in Brazil, and you can’t find any similar products to the ones I mentioned above, don’t worry. There’s still one very good way to clean your white MacBook. Just use a white plastic all purpose eraser, like this one.

Hope I could help you.

Somehow my cholesterol diet didn’t work. 4 months ago (or so) I did some blood tests and the results were not good. My doctor said I should go on a fat-free diet to see if I could reduce it. 4 months later (today) I have a new appointment at the doctor’s office to show him the results of my new blood test. Well, the result is no good at all. After having cut all fried food from my diet, stopped drinking milk, reduced the amount of chocolate I eat (the most difficult task!), started to drink fresh fruit juice my cholesterol went up instead of gong down! Believe it or not. So fuck all these fucking diets! Later today I’ll ask my doctor to prescribe me some drugs. Let’s see if I’ll get better results with them.

It’s been a week I’ve got my MacBook. To be honest with you, I’m really pleased with it. I’ve always wanted to have a Mac coz It just looked cool. But it’s much more than a trandy piece of plastic. Mac OS (Leopard in my case) is way much better and reliable than Vista Windows. I’m still not fully adapted to it, but I’m getting there. Vista was getting into my nerves, really! So I decided to withdraw some a lot of money from my saving accounts and get my so wanted MacBook. Pitty that Apple products are so fucking expenisve here in Brazil. My MacBook cost almost twice as much as if I had bought it in the U.S. :-/

As I expected:

Following the huge international success of their spectacular ‘Somewhere Back in Time World Tour 08′ Iron Maiden will be taking to the skies once again in 2009 for a fourth and final leg starting in Dubai on February 13th.

Loaded up with a full complement of band, crew and twelve tons of stage set and equipment, the band’s customised Boeing 757, christened Ed Force One by the fans and flown again by Astraeus Airlines Captain and Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson, will once again be circumnavigating 80,000km around the planet for concerts in 19 cities in eleven countries, making it a staggering 37 countries in total visited on this tour, playing to almost two million fans.

Taking off in early February Maiden will make their first appearances in New Zealand for 16 years via Dubai and Bangalore followed by the long haul journey for a return to Mexico in some even larger venues and then finishing with an extended run through Central and South America to include countries and cities they have not visited before. The dates are as follows –

February 2009:-
Fri 13th - UAE - Dubai Media City Amphitheatre
Sun 15th - India - Bangalore Royal Challenge Rock In India
Fri 20th - New Zealand - Auckland. Mount Smart Stadium
Sat 21st - New Zealand - Christchurch. AMI Stadium
Wed 25th - Mexico - Monterrey Estadio Technologico.
Thurs 26th - Mexico - Guadalajara Arena VFG Jalisco.
Sat 28th - Mexico - Mexico City Fero Sol Stadium Complex

1st - 29th March 2009 - South and Central America.
Details to be advised soon.

The ‘SOMEWHERE BACK IN TIME’ tour revisits the band’s history by focusing almost entirely on the 80’s in both choice of songs played and the stage set, which is based around the legendary Egyptian Production of the 1984-85 ‘Powerslave Tour’ which was featured on the recent DVD “Live after Death”. This is arguably the most elaborate and spectacular show the band have ever presented, and will include some key elements of their Somewhere In Time tour of 1986/7, such as the Cyborg Eddie.

Comments Bruce Dickinson, “This unique way of touring earlier this year with everyone and all our gear onboard the plane helped to make 2008 easily one of the most successful, exciting and fun years in the band’s career. Taking Ed Force One around the planet and playing to our fans in so many different countries was an incredible experience for all of us. For me personally, flying and performing was one of the most challenging and satisfying things I’ve ever attempted despite the rigours and all the logistical difficulties we encountered.

In fact it was so much fun we decided to do it again as a final leg of this tour All in all this will be a fantastic way to round off a tremendous year for the band before we take a bit of time off and then start work on a new studio album.”

Says Steve Harris, “We will once again be loading onto the plane as much of the production and stage set as we can ram in, along with arranging plenty of pyro for all the shows!! We will also be changing round the set list and replacing some of the songs, mainly with songs from the first four albums as the Early Days tour a few years back didn’t visit any of these places so we thought the fans would like to hear some of that even earlier material. This tour is likely to be the last time we play many of these songs live so we really will be giving it everything we have got!”

The Iron Maiden plane Ed Force One has been back in regular airline service since the end of the first leg in March this year and has been used for the ‘Bruce Air’ fan club flying trips during the European leg of the tour, as well as Bruce flying various missions to bring troops back home from tours of duty in Afghanistan and collecting stranded British tourists in the recent major airline closures. However the Boeing 757 will be taken back into the hanger soon to be completely refitted and its Maiden livery restored, this having been removed due to fears of evil ju-ju spirits– Eddie! - inhabiting the plane from worried passengers on its summer route from Central Africa!

I had never been a fan of R.E.M. before 2001, when I first saw them live at Rock in Rio 3. In fact, I quite disliked them because they were trendy in the 90s and I tend to dislike most trendy stuff. After the 2001 gig I saw how great they are live and I started to follow them a bit more closely. (For me the only way to rate how good bands really are is to watch a gig and feel its energy).Anyway, yesterday they played here in Rio for the first time since 2001 and I couldn’t see them. (Well, in theory I could. But in the following lines I’ll tell you why I didn’t). The price of concert tickets here in Brazil have increased so much, that it’s total nonsense. Who will pay 200 bucks (cheapest seats) to watch a gig? Well, apparently lots of people do, but I don’t. I really wished I could have watched the R.E.M. gig last night, but I still haven’t reached this point of lunacy. Not yet.

I’m going through this big Bowie phase at the moment, which means I’m depressed. Whenever I’m on a ‘phase’ it’s because I’m depressed. The ‘phase’ is usually a Skunkworks phase (see old posts for reference), and for no specific reason it has changed this time. Not that it hadn’t changed before. It once was a Beatles phase, a McCartney phase and a few others. Anyway, I’ve burned a cd with 5 Bowie songs: Space Oddity, Life on Mars?, All the Young Dudes, Starman and Ziggy Stardust. This cd has been playing in my car stereo on repeat mode for 2 weeks now and the more I listen, the more into it a become. Space Oddity is a truly masterpiece. The harmony, the melody, the lyrics, they interact in a magical way. It’s like if you were on a trip. Bowie must have been under the influence of heavy drugs when he wrote it, there’s no other explanation for such thing. As for Life on Mars?, can anybody explain to me that bloody lyrics? They don’t make any sense! “Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow” Wtf???

Anyway, I’m still trying to figure out why Bowie this time. Don’t even know if there’s an explanation, sometimes things are what they are and that’s it. I wish I could understand myself a bit better, you know? I seem rather mysterious.

Second attempt of having a second dated failed yesterday. On Tuesday morning I started to chat with her on MSN and after a few minutes invitded her out by saying that I was thinking about going to the theater and would like her to go with me. And that’s when she didn’t reply anything… I spent the next couple of hours totally disappointed but by the end of the day I was already a bit better. I had convinced myself that she really didn’t want anything with me. So I decided to give her some time, that I wouldn’t be forcing any more moves for a while, and I was even considering not speaking to her for a while too… Well, yesterday she was there, online my MSN list. I stuck to my decision and didn’t start a conversation. But she did! She started to talk to me, and said she was sorry for not replying me the day before. So we chatted a little bit more about work and stuff, and then I said that I had invited her to go out and she never replied… That’s when she said she’s not in a good moment and that she wouldn’t be a good companion for me and she also said that when she has the opportunity she will explain it to me. Well, smells like past realtionships to me. What do you think? Maybe she’s still emotionally attached to an ex. Or she likes someone that doesn’t care abut her. Who knows? I’ll wait for my next move. Even though I’m not sure what and when my next move will be. Anyway, what I know is that it’s pretty clear that she already knows what I want. Maybe, she’s the one who has to make the next move? Bloddy hell! Why does it have to be so complicated?

And after almost 30 years later, I found out that my youngest uncle isn’t actually my uncle, biologically speaking, I mean. Apparently my grandmother adopted him when he was a baby. Well, it wasn’t a shock. Actually, it does make a lot of sense! It’s amazing how little I know about my family’s past (and I mean both sides of my family). Everything seems so obscure. The feeling I have now is that there are many more things hidden somewhere. What I don’t know is if I really want to know everything. This task will require lots of stress, which I’m not sure it’s worthy. In fact, I’m pretty sure it isn’t worthy. In the end nothing will change, so why bother?
