Differently from most people I do not have an all time favourite song nor film. I would even find it extremely difficult to create a top 5 all time favourite song or film list, like High Fidelity’s Rob can. But then, he does not actually exist, does he?
For the past 10 days or so I’ve had 4 or 5 favourite songs of the moment. First was ‘Coming Home’, then ‘Isle of Avalon’, followed by ‘The Talisman’ and ‘When the Wild Wind Blows’. I’m not really sure if ‘The Man Who would Be King’ has ever reached the top of the list. But it can easily get there. It’s just a matter of, hmm, a matter of… Well, I really don’t know. It just happens, if you know what I mean.
Iron Maiden - The Final Frontier
This is due, of course, to the new Iron Maiden album ‘The Final Frontier’, which was released last monday. The album has 10 songs and half of it were on my ‘temporarily’, or as I prefer to call, favourite song of the moment list. This shows you how great the album actually is despite of all the changes in the band’s style. It’s more progressive, it’s more beautifully written (songwise and musicwise), not as strong as before but full of nice feelings and although it’s a long album, you don’t get tired of listening to it.
It’s the best Maiden album since ‘Brave New World’ and I even there to say, maybe the best since ‘Seventh Son of a Seventh Son’ and it’s definitely worth a listen. Totally recommended.
